In August last year, SA2MEs operators Johan & Patrik, went to and activated mt Helags Glacier for SOTA. (The mountain is worth 10 points). På väg hem från 10-poängaren Helagsglaciären kommer Johan och Patrik stanna till på 2-poängaren Hoverberget SM/JL-064. De räknar med att vara QRV runt 17.30-tiden.

Expeditionen avbruten pga dåligt väder

Kraftig vind, hårt regn och prognoser som visar på mer vind, minusgrader och snöbyar gör att Johan och Patrik tvingas bestämma sig för att avbryta.
De är givetvis mycket ledsna för det men ingen radiokörning är värd att riskera säkerheten för, även om Johans motto är "Vad gör man inte för att bli QRV!". Det här är just en sån sak som man inte gör!

Expedition cancelled due to really bad weather
Strong wind, hard rain and weather predictions showing more wind, temperatures below 32F and heavy snow has forced Johan and Patrik to decide to cancel the expedition.
They are really sad about this off course but no QSO is worth the risk of personal injury, even though Johan's saying is "What don't you do to get QRV". This is one of those things you don't do!.

Frekvenser för Kebnekaise!

I morgon fredag börjar äventyret! Vi tar oss upp genom landet från Uppsala med bil till Renträsk. Här vilar vi lite för att på lördagen fortsätta mot Kiruna. Under färden är vi QRV på 2m på olika rep. Tidig söndag tar vi oss till Nikka för att vandra de 19km som det är till fjällstationen. På måndag den 19 juli börjar vi färden upp mot toppen, vi räknar med att nå toppen sent på måndag. Efter lite vila och mat reser vi antenner och räknar med att vara i luften tidigt den 20 juli. Först kör vi SOTA och när det är klart så går vi över till att jaga svenska och nordiska stationer! Vi kör så länge strömmen och vädret tillåter.

Nedräkning/Countdown Kebnekaise 2010

Antennen är testad, radion är packad och all annan nödvändig utrustning är besiktigad... och vi, Patrik och Johan, är redo för sommarens stora händelse. Nedräkningen har börjat. Om en vecka befinner vi oss vid Kebnekaise och sen är det bara att köra! Vi ser med stor spänning och entusiasm fram emot det som komma skall och hoppas på många QSOn. Det ska bli "skitkul" rent ut sagt. Vi hörs på banden!

The antenna has been tested, the radio is packed and all other necessary equipment have been inspected… and we, Patrik and Johan, are ready for this summer's big happening. The countdown has begun. One week from today we will be at Kebenekaise and then we’ll be ready to rock! We are looking forward to this with tremendous excitement and enthusiasm and hope we’ll have many QSOs. This will be “damn fun” so to speak. Meet ya’ in the air!

The QRP Radio-club SA2ME is planning on activating the SM/NB-001, mount Kebenekaise, on July the 20th 2010. We will operate on the 80, 40 and 20m band. The activation will be on air for 36h if the weather and propagations is good. The operators on this trip will be SA5BDS Patrik and SA5BJM Johan.

SOTA KEBNEKAISE SM/NB-001 JULY 20TH 2010

QRP Radio-club SA2ME planerar en expedition till Kebnekaise SOTA SM/NB-001. Tiden för detta äventyr kommer att vara runt den 20 juli. Vi kommer att försöka vara aktiva på 80, 40 och 20 meters bandet. Aktiviteten kommer att bestå av två delar, dels QRP/P från toppen samt en del där vi försöker köra SOTA stationer. Om alla planer går I lås så kommer vi vara uppe vid toppen I 36 h! Mount Kebenekaise is 2111m and located in the northern part of Sweden 67°53′52″N 18°30′20″E in the province of Lappland. In order to get there you will have to walk 20 km first to get to the base camp. From this camp it will take you around 8 h to get to the top. The summit is always covered in snow and the view and the midnight sun is magnificent!
